I Will Teach You To Be Rich Book Summary:
In I Will Teach You To Be Rich, author Ramit Sethi discusses basic finance, tailored for 20 and 30something year olds. Sethi extensively covers the following topics:
- Credit cards
- Online banking
- How to curb your spending
- How to maintain and optimize your money flow
Plus what I would really consider *bonus* content (for your average financial book today), regarding how to improve your attitude about money (in terms of mental acuity and a special section addressing charitable giving, an often overlooked financial topic).
About the Author:
Ramit Sethi, a Stanford graduate, is an American personal finance adviser and entrepreneur. He is founder of growthlab.com, owner of iwillteachyoutoberich.com, and owner and co-founder of PBWorks.com.
I Will Teach You To Be Rich Review:
I absolutely love this book. It is truly a great start for those new to the world of finance. The entire book brims with Sethi’s witty humor, which makes it so much easier to stay engaged. He finds just the right balance of humor/stories and real financial advice.
And on a more serious note, Sethi really helped me optimize my finances with this book. He explains financial terms in easy to understand language and really helps you adjust your money mindset along the way, too.
The book is an easy to follow money guide, that helps you take little steps towards achieving the best financial you. Sethi doesn’t overwhelm you with everything all at once, but instead explains one of the financial topics, then gives you a quick checklist of things to do that can help you optimize your finances under that topic, then switches back to explaining a topic, then back to a quick checklist. It kept me very engrossed and focused on the topic (and I am very easy to distract).
If you are a young, newbie individual looking for a book that helps you understand and/or revamp your finances, this is the book for you. Even if you’re older, this book would probably still be very helpful.
This would probably not be the book for you if you already have extensive financial knowledge. That’s not to say you won’t learn anything or even quite a bit, it’s just that Sethi mostly discusses pretty basic money concepts, so this book is going to really be the most helpful for beginners.
If you’re a financial novice and are looking to get started improving your financial situation, then I Will Teach You To Be Rich is the book for you. Author Ramit Sethi, will keep you interested and involved throughout the entire book. Sethi will help you understand and fully utilize important financial topics. I highly recommend this book if you are an amateur to finances.
